PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
An effective and non-invasive treatment for non-melanoma skin cancer

What is TFD?
Photodynamic Therapy is a simple, non-invasive technique indicated for the successful treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer, i.e.: actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, Bowen's disease.

How it works
It is a very selective technique, which exclusively affects the area to be treated (tumors, actinic keratosis...) preserving the surrounding healthy tissue.
The technique involves applying a photosensitizing cream to the lesion(s) to be treated in the clinic. The area is then covered with an opaque dressing or bandage to prevent light exposure. After 2-3 hours (depending on the diagnosis and individual characteristics), the area is illuminated for approximately 8 minutes.

This procedure involves the destruction of tumor or pre-tumor cells in an effective and selective manner.
It represents a great advantage over the treatment of these lesions with cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) or surgery, given the good clinical and aesthetic results.
